Upon returning to civilian life, Alva had three years of the GI Bill available to further his education. Armed with considerable life experience and a commitment to serving others, he graduated from Cumberland School of Law and obtained his LL.M. from Harvard in 1971.
Alva has been with Hare Wynn in some capacity ever since, and now serves as Of Counsel for the firm. Over the course of a decades-long career, Alva has represented hundreds of clients in a wide range of practice areas, from product liability to catastrophic injury.
For Alva, securing the successful outcome of a client’s case is a major responsibility. He understands the difficulties that families face in the wake of a sudden tragedy, and he feels a deep personal commitment to helping those families obtain the resources they need to recover.
Outside of the courtroom, Alva is a well-known legal scholar and professional leader. He has published for the Cumberland Law Review, and served as the president of both the Alabama Trial Lawyer’s Board of Governors and the Alabama State Bar Association. In his spare time, Alva enjoys working outdoors on his farm, horseback riding, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
