Januvia, Janumet, Byetta, and Victoza, are type 2 diabetes drugs. Scientific studies indicate these four drugs can drastically increase the risk of pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest forms of cancer.
• Januvia is an oral medication prescribed to control type 2 diabetes in adults by lowering glucose levels.
• Janumet is an oral medication for diabetics who have not gained control of glucose levels from Januvia alone.
• Byetta lowers glucose levels and is administered via injection.
• Victoza, a twice daily injection, was approved by the Federal Drug Administration (DA) in 2010.
In 2011, a study published in Gastroenterology examining the adverse events report received by the FDA related to Januvia and Byetta, found that patients taking these drugs had three times the risk of developing pancreatic cancer, and Byetta users were also at increased risk for developing thyroid cancer.
Hare Wynn is heavily involved in litigation against pharmaceutical drug companies. We have expanded our complex litigation department to include claims against pharmaceutical companies, including one of the manufacturers of these drugs. The drug companies are making billions of dollars in profits while failing to warn patients of potential increased risk of developing pancreatic cancer.
We represent individuals and families who have been devastated by pancreatic cancer as a result of taking Januvia, Janumet, Byetta and/or Victoza. If you, or a loved one, have taken one of these diabetes drugs and developed pancreatic cancer, or if after taking Byetta developed thyroid cancer, you may qualify for this litigation.
