We are accepting cases involving total hip/knee replacement or resurfacing patients who were implanted with a prosthetic joint prior to 2009, required subsequent revision surgery, and developed a severe infection requiring surgical intervention. Bair Hugger forced air warming blankets are used in the operative suite and have been linked to markedly-increased rates of severe PJI (prosthetic joint infection) or DJI (deep joint infection).
Treatment for the infection involves surgical intervention and hospitalization, long-term IV antibiotics, as well as infection disease or wound specialty care. We are screening out diabetes, compromised immune systems, morbidly-obese patients, and tobacco smokers, as these patients tend to have increased risks of developing post-surgical infections.
If you believe you may have a case for a Bair Hugger lawsuit, please contact us for a complimentary case evaluation.
