Named Best Lawyer’s 2019 Personal Injury “Lawyer of the Year” in Lexington based on the consensus opinion of leading lawyers in the region, Matt Minner is the managing partner of the firm’s Kentucky office. He has tried numerous major jury trials in state and federal courts and has had tremendous success in complex and high profile cases, obtaining million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients. His cases and results have been covered by USA Today, CBS, ABC, Fox, Law360, The National Law Journal and numerous other national and local media outlets. Matt also serves as president of Hare Wynn Foundation and takes great pride in the firm’s philanthropic pursuits.


A stellar student, Matthew attended the University of Kentucky on full academic and ROTC scholarships and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with departmental honors and highest distinction. In 1996, he graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law where among other honors and achievements, he received the Weldon White Scholarship and was elected by his peers as an officer and their representative to the Vanderbilt Bar Association.

Matt is deeply devoted to his clients and has been sought out for representation by individuals, governmental entities and businesses. His clients often face long odds against some of the largest and most powerful companies in the country. Matt was proud to represent the Commonwealth of Kentucky and other states as lead and co-lead counsel in achieving record-breaking consumer protection results. His aggressive and innovative approach to trial preparation has led him as far as Ghana, Africa, in pursuit of an excellent result for his client. He has been recognized by the National Law Journal for attaining one of the “Top 100 Verdicts in America.” In other cases, he has been recognized as having achieved one of the top five verdicts of the year in Kentucky and has been separately recognized as having obtained one of the top 10 verdicts of the decade in Alabama.

He has been named on multiple occasions to the prestigious Lawdragon “500 Leading Lawyers in America.” This is among the most elite distinctions in the legal profession and includes government leaders, U.S. Supreme Court justices, and cutting edge attorneys from both sides. Matt is a member of the national board of directors for the University of Kentucky Alumni Association. He is a member of the board of directors of the Kentucky Justice Association. He is the President of Cure KY Kids, a nonprofit organization focused on Kentucky’s children fighting cancer. Matt has also served on the board of directors of the YMCA where he was named the “Volunteer of the Year” in 2008.
