Motorcycle Crash near Montgomery Kills Couple
Two people lost their lives in a motorcycle crash near Montgomery. The fatal incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, June 12. It was reported to the authorities at around 8:15 a.m.
According to the details shared by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the motorcycle involved in the crash was traveling southbound along Interstate 65 at the time. Two people were riding the bike, later identified as a couple. The bike itself was identified as a 2020 Harley Davidson.
As the motorcycle was nearly three miles from Montgomery, the person operating the motorcycle attempted to pass a second vehicle. However, the motorcycle operator lost control of it which caused the motorcycle to veer away from the roadway. The Harley Davidson then collided with a cable barrier causing the motorcycle crash near Montgomery.
Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected from their ride following the collision. This resulted in critical injuries to both persons. By the time the first responders and paramedics arrived on the scene of the crash, the couple had succumbed to their injuries. They were pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.
The identification details of the deceased victims were initially kept confidential, pending notification to the next-of-kin. ALEA later identified the couple as George Wallace Williams, 35, of Hanceville, who was operating the motorcycle at the time, and Bridget Leashae Williams, 30, also of Hanceville, who was a passenger on the motorcycle.
The Highway Patrol Division of ALEA continues to investigate the crash. The focus of the investigations, at this point, is to better understand how the crash took place. The driver of the other vehicle which the motorcyclist was trying to pass has not been identified by ALEA.
