Hare, Wynn, Newell & Newton Partners with Libby’s Friends
BIRMINGHAM – Oct. 22, 2020 – The law firm of Hare, Wynn, Newell and Newton, LLP is pleased to announce a $10,000 contribution to Libby’s Friends, a local non-profit dedicated to financially supporting Alabama families with special needs children. Jamie Moncus, Trial Lawyer at Hare, Wynn, Newell & Newtown serves as the Board Chairman of the foundation.
The donation is the first major corporate sponsorship for the newly named 501(c)(3).
On her twelfth day of life, Libby Hagan suffered a massive medication overdose at the hands of two nurses and two pharmacists while a patient in the NICU at Brookwood Hospital. As a result, the now 6-year-old, suffered irreversible brain damage and is a quadriplegic. This tragic outcome serves as the foundation of Libby’s Friends.
Lane and Kathryn Hagan, Libby’s parents, understand first-hand the astronomical costs associated with caring for a special needs child and are passionate about helping other families fill the gap between what medical insurance will cover and the unique needs that arise for Birmingham-area caregivers of non-typical children.
“We are honored to serve as the inaugural major corporate donor to this amazing organization,” said Leon Ashford, Managing Partner at Hare, Wynn, Newell & Newton. “Our firm was founded 130 years ago out of the innate desire to be a part of something larger than ourselves – we are and will always be a firm dedicated to helping others, and supporting Libby’s Friends is part of that mission.”
The organization is planning future fundraising and advocacy opportunities. To learn more about Libby’s friends, or to donate, please visit: libbysfriends.org
