Hare Wynn Lawyer and Former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Ralph Cook Was Honored at His Portrait Unveiling
Ralph Cook, a partner at Hare, Wynn, Newell & Newton, was appointed as an Associate Justice to the Alabama Supreme Court in 1993 and elected to the state’s highest court for a second term in 1994.
The former Supreme Court Justice spoke of a “special time because I recognize that I have had the privilege to live and serve during a special period in the history of our nation and state, and to know and serve with people who have left and will leave large footprints in the sands of time.”
“When I first made remarks after my investiture on my appointment to this Court, I expressed that my feelings were kaleidoscopic, because I was entering a new time in my life. Today, I also have feelings that are kaleidoscopic in nature, based in part on the great friendships, professional relationships and associations with people all across the state, country and world that have enriched my life and given me the opportunity to serve.”
Justice Cook is a member of the Alabama, California, National, Birmingham, and Bessemer Bar Associations, and served as president of the Alabama Lawyers Association from 1992 to 1993. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute, and has been recognized for his work and received awards from community organizations, colleges, and churches throughout the state of Alabama.
Justice Cook is a member of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. He is married to the former Charlsie Davis of Jefferson County, and they have three children: Kimberly, Nakela, and Ralph, Jr.
