2010 Decorators’ ShowHouse

Richard Scrushy’s Vestavia Hills home, known as the Longleaf Estate, is the Decorators’ ShowHouse in 2010. The event will be held from April 17 through May 2 as part of the yearly fundraiser for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

The house, located at 2406 Longleaf Street in Vestavia Hills was purchased by HealthSouth shareholders for $4.25 million in December, 2009 as part of the effort to recover money toward paying a $2.8 billion civil judgment against Richard Scrushy. Hare Wynn attorney, John Haley says the sale of the house will be a significant benchmark in a civil case he filed in 2002.

“For me as a lawyer, it’s been a long, long journey,” he said. “Eight years on one case? I’ve been practicing law for 35 years. That’s 25 percent of my legal career that has been spent attempting to recover from Richard Scrushy.”
