Tommy Wilson vs. Bausch & Lomb - $875,000.00 Settlement. Hare Wynn Attorney, Shay Samples has settled a case against Bausch & Lomb involving fungal contaminated ReNu Moisture Eye Drops. Tommy Wilson experienced damage to the cornea in his left eye as a consequence of using Bausch & Lomb ReNu Eye Drops which were contaminated with a fusarium fungus. Discovery revealed that Bausch & Lomb had a breach in the integrity of their manufacturing process of these eye drops wherein the fungus was exposed to the eye drops. Mr. Wilson had a corneal transplant as a consequence of the damage to his eye, with some resultant residual decrease in his eyesight in that eye. This case was filed individually although it eventually became part of the Multi District Litigation in the Federal Courts of South Carolina. This is believed to be one of the largest settlements of this type of case in the United States.
